Itinerary
The Yarra Valley, Melbourne’s nearest top-tier wine region, is a mere 40-minute drive from the city’s central business district. Upon departing, you’ll be immersed in the region called ‘The Valley’, exploring its many wonders and lesser-known treasures.
This region’s cool climate is ideally suited for cultivating Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz, and sparkling wines.
The area boasts a rich viticultural history that spans over 170 years, tracing back to 1838 with the arrival of European settlers. Before this, the Yarra Valley was already recognized as a land of plenty by the Wurundjeri and Boonwurrung Aboriginal people.
The unique combination of the location, soil characteristics, and excellent weather conditions in the Yarra Valley supports the cultivation of vineyards and the production of a wide range of local farm produce.
Yarra Valley Chocolates
The Wine Tours in the Yarra Valley commence with an indulgence in chocolate tasting. This delightful venture provides scenic vistas of lush orchards and the sprawling Yarra Valley. Observers have the opportunity to witness skilled European chocolate makers crafting an array of over 400 chocolate varieties. Ample time is allocated for purchasing regional delicacies as souvenirs or to relish a cup of coffee or a scoop of ice cream from the on-site café.
Winery St. Herberts Cellar Door
St Hubert’s winery was founded in 1862 and helped establish the region as a premium wine-producing area in the 1960s. It is known for its exceptional Cabernet Sauvignon and produces Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Roussanne. The winery has expanded its offerings to include reserve wines such as Sparkling Rose, Pinot Blanc, and Pinot Munier. Visitors can experience an 8-glass premium tasting at the winery’s contemporary cellar door. The quality of the tastings will impress guests.
Break and have lunch in Healesville
Take some time to relax in the township of Healesville. We have added free time in Healesville so guests can have lunch and explore the gateway town to the Yarra Valley. Our tour is designed to show the Yarra Valley from a local perspective, not just going from winery to winery. It would be best to explore the local shops, galleries, cafes, and restaurants in Healesville (guests must pay for this themselves).
Afternoon Cellar Door Tastings
We visited two family-run boutique wineries for tastings in the afternoon. Our schedule adjusts based on group size and availability. Some of our favourite cellar doors stop in the Yarra Valley Wine Tour include Yering Farm Wines, Medhurst Wines, Yering Station, Killara Estate, Napoleone Cider & Orchard Bar, Rochford Wines Yarra Valley, Helen & Joey’s Wines, and more. Relax in the calm country surroundings while enjoying a glass of wine and an incredible wine selection.
