Itinerary

The Great Ocean Road is a popular road trip in Victoria, known for its scenic beauty, including pristine beaches, lush rainforests, and rugged limestone rock formations.

Experience the breathtaking 12 Apostles and iconic rock formations near Port Campbell National Park in Victoria. Immerse yourself in the stunning natural scenery and let our knowledgeable guides share the captivating stories and history that have shaped this remarkable coastline.

After leaving Melbourne, we travelled to the Surf Coast and passed through seaside townships such as Anglesea, Lorne, and Airey’s Inlet. We stop for morning tea and enjoy the fresh sea air while watching surfers on the water. Due to the proximity to Antarctica, you will understand why this area is known for great surf and why wet suits are essential.
Visitors can stop at the Great Ocean Road monument, which signifies the original starting point of the Great Ocean Road. There, they can take photos at the iconic Memorial Arch and learn about the history of the soldiers who constructed this road in honour of their fallen comrades. Along the way, there will be numerous opportunities to capture stunning views, with regular breaks for photography.
During the journey, there will be stops along the Great Ocean Road in search of Koalas in their natural habitat. Although their appearance cannot be guaranteed, our experienced guides are familiar with the best locations in the bush for spotting them.
A lunch break is taken in Apollo Bay for approximately 45 minutes, which guests can enjoy at their own expense. After exploring Apollo Bay, purchasing souvenirs, or trying some ice cream, the journey continues to the Great Otway National Park.
We proceed along the Great Ocean Road and enter Great Otway National Park. The terrain here is verdant and teeming with life. Our journey takes us past towering Eucalyptus trees until we arrive at a section of Cool, Temperate Rainforest. The environment transforms noticeably as we traverse among the tree ferns, observing the venerable Myrtle Beach trees. These trees offer a canopy of shade and possess an intriguing history dating back to Australia’s connection with Gondwanaland. Remember to inhale deeply, savouring the pristine air before we move towards the awe-inspiring Shipwreck Coast.
Departing from the forest and emerging by the Southern Ocean, we find ourselves at Port Campbell National Park, which is celebrated for the iconic 12 Apostles. We allocate roughly 40 minutes at the Apostles, allowing you to wander, stroll along the boardwalks, and seize magnificent photos of the craggy shoreline.
Additionally, within the National Park, visitors can explore Loch Ard Gorge, which is known for being the location of one of Australia’s famous shipwrecks. There, you can learn about the dramatic story of Tom and Eva before heading to the beach to search for caves. This area also offers various rock formations like Island Archway, Razorback, and the ‘Salt and Pepper Shakers.’

After a full day of exploring, we concluded our journey on the Great Ocean Road and began our return trip to Melbourne via country roads. We will pass through farmlands on our way to the country town of Colac. In Colac, guests can grab a quick bite for dinner (at their own expense) before we arrive back in Melbourne at approximately 8:30 pm.
