Brisbane

Brisbane boasts more than 250 days of sunshine a year and a laid-back atmosphere. The capital of the self-proclaimed Sunshine State, Brisbane is not only the main departure point for excursions along the east coast towards Cairns. It also offers visitors a variety of activities that will make their stay here enjoyable.

For example, you can explore the city by boat on the free City Hopper or admire its legendary views from the viewpoint of Koot ta Lukaut Mountain. But that’s not all. There are even more places to see. “Brisbane has a youthful, laid-back charm.

This famous city doesn’t hide behind its big sisters Sydney and Melbourne and is well worth a visit.

Free boat trip on the Brisbane River

City Hopper

The Brisbane City Council offers a unique way to discover Australia’s northeastern metropolis while sightseeing. On the free City Hopper, a kind of water taxi, you can cruise along the Brisbane River, enjoying the city from the water and a bird’s eye view. You can get off the boat at different stops and return later. This allows you to explore the city centre at your leisure.

My favourite stop is Thornton Street on the outskirts of Kangaroo Point, which I highly recommend. You will find beautiful green parks and impressive cliffs inviting you to wander around with fantastic skyline views here. It is undoubtedly one of the city’s most exciting places and worth a visit. Wherever you get off: Have fun in Australia’s third-largest city!

Story Bridge at Night

Story Bridge at Night

Brisbane’s most famous bridge is one of the best attractions in the Queensland capital. At night, it offers a magnificent spectacle of colour. The Story Bridge, named after the famous city official John Douglas Story, connects the Fortitude Valley and Kangaroo Point neighbourhoods.

While it is a vital part of the cityscape during the day, it is the icing on the cake at night. This is when the famous bridge flashes bright colours, creating a romantic and harmonious atmosphere. It is well worth a visit and offers a sensational photo opportunity!

Mount Coot-tha Summit Lookout

At 287 metres high, Mount Coot-tha is the highest mountain near Brisbane. The observation deck at the top offers a breathtaking view of the Queensland capital’s skyline. The mountain is also known as Honey Mountain. The country’s indigenous people collected sweet nectar in this region and named the mountain after this delicious product (ku-ta means “honey”).

There is a beautiful free botanical garden at the foot of the “Honey Mountain” for all those who love gardens and flowers. Mount Coot-tha is a great place for excursions when you are in Brisbane. We highly recommend visiting this attraction!
