Highlights

Pinnacle Walk

Pinnacle Walk

The varied hiking trail to the Pinnacle is not only one of my personal favourite hiking trails in Australia, but it is also probably the most popular hiking trail in the entire Grampians National Park. It leads through exciting gorges to a sensational viewing rock, the Pinnacle. The landscape, dotted with green, rocky hills, spreads out in front of the lookout.

The mountain panorama is breathtaking! It’s one of the top sights in the Grampians National Park. It’s worth summoning all your courage and climbing the stony lookout rock, which resembles the bow of a ship.

It immediately reminded me of Titanic’s famous film scene with Jack on the bow, stretching out his arms and shouting: ‘I am the king of the world’! I wonder how you’ll fare there?

Tip: Take the hiking trail from Wonderland Car Park and walk through the Grand Canyon. A super beautiful section of the hike!

Boroka Lookout

Boroka Lookout

One thing is certain: the Grampians National Park is blessed with many beautiful and breathtaking viewpoints. Boroka Lookout is one of them. There is no long hiking trail separating you from the spectacular view. Boroka Lookout can be reached via a short walk from the vehicle. The view of Lake Bellfield, nestled between green, rocky hills, is particularly beautiful.

The small village of Halls Gap is also clearly visible. Fun fact: although the miniature town only has 300 inhabitants, it has the second-highest number of day visitors in Victoria. Only the famous Great Ocean Road is the best place to visit. This shows just how popular the Grampians National Park is with tourists.

Not surprising given the wonderful sights, is it?

Reed Lookout & The Balconies

Reed Lookout & The Balconies

The view show continues at the famous Balconies. The rock formation on the edge of a spectacular gorge attracts many visitors. You can reach them via a short hiking trail. The Reed Lookout will also be waiting for you directly at the car park. From there, you will also have a great view of the forest-green mountains of the Grampians National Park.

Then it’s on to the popular Balconies, a fantastic must-see in the Grampians National Park. The granite-grey rocky outcrops jut out into an abyssal gorge as much as some may be tempted to enter the picturesque balconies. Unfortunately, they are closed to foot traffic. As you can see, their parts have already broken off and fallen into the deep ravine.

However, even from a distance, the pretty balconies are a great photo opportunity and a real work of natural art.

Mackenzie Falls

Mackenzie Falls

The picturesque Mackenzie Falls offer a change from the fascinating lookouts on the gorge roofs. The enchanting, multi-levelled waterfall is an absolute highlight in the Grampians National Park and one of the top sights in Australia.

A short path leads you down into a small gorge in front of the impressive waterfall. It offers a picturesque photo opportunity and a nice way to cool off on hot days.

You can dip your feet in the pool of water beneath the Mackenzie Falls or, wind permitting, let yourself be enveloped by its spraying drops of water. It’s simply a great place!

Mount Stapylton

Mount Stapylton

Admittedly: To reach the top of Mount Stapylton, you have to conquer quite a few meters in altitude. But the climb up the 470-metre-high mountain is worth it! A wonderful mountain panorama awaits you there. But that’s not all: once you reach the top of Mount Stapylton, there is a lot to discover.

For example, fascinating rock formations make great photo opportunities. For the more adventurous, the trail continues upwards from the first elevation. Small red arrows mark the path along the steep cliffs up to the top. Your climbing skills will also be in demand here. An adventurous and varied must-do to explore the north of the national park. A big recommendation from me!

Tip: Pay attention to the weather on the hike to Mount Stapylton. Climbing the mountain in strong winds and storm forecasts is not recommended. Caution is also advised when it rains and gets wet. The stones on the way up can be slippery.

I wish you lots of fun in the wonderful Grampians National Park! What did you experience there? As always, I’m looking forward to your comments!
