Contents

Find out all about the top highlights in the fascinating William Bay National Park in this article! Pssst….you can expect elephants in Australia!

The south coast of Western Australia is simply beautiful! It’s often treated as the forgotten child among tourists, but it has fascinating sights and beautiful coastal landscapes waiting for its visitors.

It’s worth taking a closer look at the southwest coast of Australia, including William Bay National Park near Denmark. That’s where the elephants are!

Elephants in Australia? No. There are spectacular granite boulders on the coast of this beautiful national park. Some people rub their eyes when the backs of the rocks appear in the distance.

They resemble the proboscideans from Africa and Asia in a wondrous way. It almost looks as if a whole herd of pachyderms is enjoying themselves in the turquoise-blue shallow waters of the national park. The fascinating rock formations at the Elephant Rocks site are an absolute must-see in William Bay National Park!

But Elephant Cove right next door is also worth a visit. You will also come across wondrous elephant rocks in a picturesque cove in a class of its own. If you fancy a refreshing dip afterwards, the Greens Pool is well worth a visit. The natural rock pool on a beautiful beach invites you to dip in the turquoise-blue water.

This will be particularly pleasant in the warm months from November to March. On the other hand, the weather and climate are often cold and windy during May- September. On the other hand, the sights in South Australia can usually be enjoyed without many people.

Next to the Elephant Rocks, a path leads you down to the sensational Elephant Cove. It is picturesquely nestled between rock faces on the beautiful coast of the national park. The picturesque cove is home to a golden-white beach and turquoise-blue water, making it a picturesque must-see.

But that’s not all. The granite boulders in the bay’s shallow waters also astonishingly resemble a herd of elephants. You will also spot one or two pachyderms on the rock face. A wonderful sight!
